The treatment:
Before starting any course of laser, Donna carries out a patch test at the initial consultation, to make sure the client is suitable for laser, and to also give the client a chance to see potential results!
Most clients notice a significant result, even after one treatment, however best results are generally seen on dark hair and pale skin tones.
There are some factors which may affect the success of hair reduction, being hormone levels, age and hair density.
Normally all clients are satisfied with results after 6-8 treatments, and treatments can be from 4 weeks to 8 weeks apart for best results.
Hair can be shaved or cut in between treatments, as this will not affect the hair growth, however waxing and plucking must be avoided.
Dark hair and light skin tone is the best for successful laser treatments. However, blonde, white, grey and very fine hair is not suitable for laser, as there is no melanin (colour) present in the hair.
Laser for Pigmentation
What is pigmentation?
Pigmentation/Hyper pigmentation is a common skin condition, where some areas or patches of skin turn darker in colour.
It is usually a harmless condition, caused when there is too much of the pigment, melanin on the surface of the skin.
Pigmentation has 2 main forms: Hyper pigmentation and Hypo pigmentation, which both have several symptoms.
Hyper pigmentation is where patches of skin become darker in colour than normal,
Hypo pigmentation is the reverse process, where patches of skin become lighter than surrounding skin.
However, treatable pigment includes, freckles, age/liver/sunspots and general sun damage.
Clients will notice a difference after one treatment. Up to 4 treatments may be required and can be preformed 4 – 6 weeks apart.
After treatment the pigment will appear darker, this will naturally disappear in 4 – 6 days post treatment.
